When Israel was founded, authors were expected to represent the birth of a Jewish nation through "the great Israel novel". Throughout the years, Israeli literature tried to face the special problems of the country, but also to be true to the individuals living in it. In this course we will go through the works of classic and contemporary Israeli authors, and see how they shape and re-write the nation's.
