Course Overview

This seminar addresses conceptual change as a central problem of learning and instruction. Building on philosophical and cognitive psychological foundations, key theories of conceptual change are introduced and applied to examples of persistent misconceptions. Over the course of the seminar, students work on a project focused on a self-chosen misconception to compare different theories and reflect on the goals of instruction.
